WelshWool.org: Building a Future for Welsh Wool

“WelshWool.org is about supporting more sustainable and transparent supply chains, giving designers and their clients greater visibility of where materials come from, who makes them and how they are produced.”

Through my work with Welsh wool, I have become increasingly aware of how difficult it can be for designers and creatives to navigate the Welsh wool supply chain — from sourcing and processing through to spinning, weaving, finishing and manufacturing.

For many years, I have been passionate about creating a more connected Welsh supply chain that makes it easier for designers, makers and creative businesses to source and work with Welsh wool.

This has led me to found and establish WelshWool.org — a dedicated resource bringing together information, contacts, knowledge and opportunities across the Welsh wool industry.

I am working with Welsh Government towards establishing the platform as a resource connecting farmers, mills, manufacturers, textile specialists, designers, makers and creatives across Wales.

The ambition is simple: to make Welsh wool easier to find, easier to understand and easier to use.

WelshWool.org will share practical resources, industry information, case studies and knowledge gained through real-world experience, helping other designers and businesses understand how they can develop their own Welsh supply chains.

I want to create something that enables other creatives to look at the process and think:

“I can do that too.”

By connecting the people and businesses already working with Welsh wool — while identifying opportunities to strengthen the gaps in the supply chain — we can create greater demand for Welsh wool, support Welsh manufacturing and help build a stronger, more sustainable Welsh wool industry.
